The initial Tier 1 Visa is granted for 3 years and 4 months when processed outside of the UK. Applicants can apply for a 2 year extension provided they meet the criteria for extending. When the investor has spent a continuous period of 5 years in the UK, they can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR).

There are fast track options for investors who wish to reduce the time required to received ILR. ILR may be reduced to 3 years if investments total £5 million, or 2 years if investments total £10 million. Applicants must invest no less than 75 percent of the specified investment amount in the U.K. by way of U.K. government bonds, share capital or loan capital in active and trading U.K.-registered companies. The remaining 25 percent must be invested in the U.K. either by purchasing assets or by depositing the funds in a U.K.-regulated financial institution.

Bank Account and Proof of Accommodation:

  • Open a banking account in the United Kingdom which is an FCA regulated institution;

  • Provide evidence of holding at least £2,000,000 investable funds. The funds should be liquid in order to be transferred to and invested in the UK with relative ease.

  • Meet good character requirements and have a clean criminal records statement.
